The Imperial Dam LTVA Senator Wash Emergency ResponseTeam (ERT) monitors CB Channel 12, 24 hours a day, and is very familiar with the area, so they can lead the emergency vehicles to your location at any time, day or night. If you do not have a CB radio, check with your neighbors and ask if you can call on them to radio in an emergency for you, should you need help. It is important to know your location, i.e. Quail Hill, Murphy Flats, etc., see map for location names that we use as noted on the new carbonate signs installed by the ERT. Become familiar with how the signs are labeled.
In the event you have an emergency, call 911 (see note below), then get on Channel 12 and say: “Emergency, emergency, emergency!” You will be answered by an Emergency Team member, if available. They will need to know the nature of the emergency (i.e. heart attack, not breathing, fire etc.). Tell them your location and turn on as many lights as possible (i.e. interior, exterior lights, headlights, hazard lights, etc.) If you do not have a CB and your vehicle or tow vehicle has alarms, hit your remote panic button to set off the lights and alarm, and then get your neighbor to call in via their CB. A member of the Emergency Team will also call 911 . Runners will then be dispatched to S24 to escort the emergency vehicles to the location of the emergency.
During an emergency, Channel 12 should not be used except by the Emergency Team, except if another emergency arises. At the conclusion of the emergency, the channel will be cleared for normal use by the Emergency Team Radio Coordinator. All emergency information is confidential. ERT team will not discuss calls.
NOTE:
All 911 calls go to the CHP dispatch in El Centro Ca. You must advise them you need Imperial County 911. This will result in a transfer to Imperial Co. 911. You then need to advise them you are in the Senator Wash Long Term Visitor Area at Imperial Dam off highway S24. If you haven’t or can’t contact the ERT you will need to give the dispatcher directions on how to get to you. It is extremely helpful to the responding agency for you to call the ERT for assistance. We have some personnel that can assist you until the EMT’s arrive.
